Implement Access Time Policy for a User/Group

Applicable Version: 10.00 onwards

Overview

Access Time Policies in Cyberoam allow administrators to define the time period for which Internet access can be allowed or denied for a specific user or group of users. For this, you need to create the Access Time Policy in which a schedule can be defined and it can be applied to the users. 

Note: 

Cyberoam is shipped with the following pre-defined Access Time Policies: 

-      Allowed all the time.
-      Denied all the time.
-      Allowed only during Work Hours.
-      Denied during Work Hours.

Scenario

Deny Internet access from 3pm to 5pm on weekdays by creating and implementing an Access Time Policy for a user John Smith. 

Configuration

You must be logged on to the Web Admin Console as an administrator with Read-Write permissionfor relevant feature(s).

Step 1: Create a Custom Schedule 

Go to Objects > Schedule > Schedule and click Add to add a schedule.

3pm-5pm weekdays

Specify a name to identify the Schedule.

Type

Recurring

Select Schedule Type.

 

Available Options:

 

Recurring – For creating Access Time policies that are effective only at specified times of the day or on specified days of the week.

 

One Time – For creating Firewall Rules that are effective once for the period of time specified in the schedule. It cannot be applied to any of the policies but can be implemented through Firewall Rule only.

Start Date/End Date

<As per Event>

Specify Start and End date.

  

Click OK to save the schedule. 

Note:

Cyberoam is shipped with some predefined (default) schedules available for immediate use. 

Step 2: Create an Access Time Policy 

Go to Identity > Policy > Access Time and click Add to add a new Access Time Policy. Specify the parameters as shown in the image.

Name to identify the Policy. Duplicate names are not allowed.

Strategy

Deny

Select Strategy type

 

Available Options:

 

Allow– Enables Internet access for a specific time period to a user.

 

Deny– Disables Internet access for a specific time period to a user.

Schedule

3pm-5pm weekdays

Specification in number of hours and days.

  

Click OK to save the Access Time Policy. 

Note: 

Cyberoam is shipped with some predefined (default) schedules available for immediate use. 

Step 3: Applying an Access Time policy on a user/group

   Go to Identity > Users > Users.
   Select the user on whom you want to apply Access Time Policy.
  Select Access Time as Denied 3 - 5 pm weekdays created in step 2.


  Click OK to update the changes.
