Apply Schedule on a Specific Web Category in Cyberoam

Applicable to Version: 10.00 onwards

Types of Schedules

Note:

Appliance is shipped with following pre-defined schedules which can be applied to firewall rules and various policies:
 
  • Work hours (5 Day week)
  • Work hours (6 Day week)
  • All Time on Weekdays
  • All Time on Weekends
  • All Time on Sunday
  • All Days 10:00 to 19:00

This document explains how to apply schedule on specific web category in Cyberoam.

For E.g. – A hypothetical scenario is shown in this article wherein a schedule has been created for Web based Emails. Users would be allowed to access Web based Emails only in Lunch hour’s i.e all days 13.00 to 15.00.

Requirement

Apply Schedule on Web based Emails

Prerequisite

Web and Application Filter module subscribed

Solution

The entire configuration is to be done from Web Admin Console. Access Web Admin Console with user having “Administrator” profile.

Follow the below given steps to apply Schedule on Web Based Emails in Cyberoam.

Step 1: Create a Schedule
 
Go to Objects à Schedule à Schedule and click on “Add” button to add a Customized Schedule with the following parameters.

Lunch Hours All Days

Type

Recurring

Recurring – use to create access time policies that are effective only at specified times of the day or on specified days of the week.

 

Click OK and the Schedule ‘Lunch Hours All Day’ will be added successfully.
 


Step 2: Create Web Filter Policy
 
Go to Web Filter à Policy à Policy and click “Add” button to create a Web Filter Policy with the following parameters.
 
 
 

Click OK and the Web Filter Policy ‘AllowWebBasedEmails’ will be created successfully.
 
 
Note:
 
You can also define custom policies to define different levels of access for different users to meet your organization’s requirements.


Step 3: Add Web Filter Policy Rules
 
Go to Web Filter à Policy à Policy and click on ‘Add’ button to add web filter policy rules. Click the Edit icon  in the Manage column against the Web Filter Policy to which rules are to be added.

Select Web Category from the list of available categories.

Note* - Select the Categories for which you want to apply the schedule.

HTTP and HTTPs Action

Schedule

Lunch Hours All Days (As Created in Step 1)

Schedule defines a time schedule for applying the rule.

 

Click Add and the Web Filter Policy Rule will be added successfully.
 


Step 5: Apply Web Filter on Firewall Rule
 
Go to Firewall à Rule and Select LAN_WAN_AnyTraffic rule to apply ‘AllowWebBasedEmails’ policy on this rule.
 
 
 
 
Click OK and the Firewall Rule will be updated successfully.

Above configuration will allow Users to access Web based Emails only in Lunch hour’s i.e all days 13.00 to 15.00.

Note

In this article policy has been applied on Firewall. Policy can also be applied on users and groups.
